Tag Archives: Elliptical

Rylnn and I had to do some shopping this afternoon after work, since Daddy’s birthday is tomorrow!  Then we came home and changed clothes and all walked over to Papa and Gamma’s house to feed the animals and water the plants since they are camping this week.  And here’s a sweet bunny we saw at the edge of the yard while we were playing outside 🙂

Rylnn is such a good helper!

And here is the picture I promised on Saturday of the swing and frame that Papa and Rylnn built while we were in Nashville.

And here is the view when you sit in it…Priceless.  I absolutely love it!

Swing Viw

Tonight I finished a quick 20 minute elliptical workout and then BARELY finished my 40-30-20-10 workout.  My muscles are toast!

Tomorrow after work, we are headed to the campground to visit Papa and Gamma to celebrate Andy’s birthday with hot dogs, hamburgers, smores and who knows what else!  I can’t wait!

What’s your favorite camping treat?

A Few Updates

This afternoon, I just got to spend a little time with my button before Andy got home and they left for a boy date… “Tis the Season” as we say in our house 🙂

So I had a whole evening to myself…I honestly didn’t know what to do!  First, I thought of all the things that I should do; dishes, laundry, take the trash off, spray a hornet nest that decided to start growing on the side of the house, etc. and I quickly got overwhelmed so I just decided to jump on the elliptical for 20 minutes to clear my head.

I did actually spray the hornet nest and I did take the garbage to the dumpster so I accomplished two goals and I finished a workout.  Mission Completed.

I thought I could take a few minutes and update some things that I feel like I have left a little undone on my blog over the last month or so.

 Coconut Oil Face Cream

Me1 IMG_0647

I attempted this Coconut Oil Face Wash that I found on Pinterest back a little over a month ago to try and stop some horrendous break-outs on my face and the initial treatment only left my face feeling a little softer.  After a few more tries, I can tell you, this does not work for me.  It never stopped any break-outs and while it didn’t seem to make it worse, it sure didn’t make it any better.  The good thing is, Coconut Oil is wonderful to cook with 🙂

Streaming Television

We decided after much discussion about not watching nearly enough of our satellite television to make it worth the monthly payment, to cancel satellite and just stream Hulu or Netflix through computers or blu-ray player.  While we haven’t cancelled the satellite television yet (due to a hefty cancellation fee and not being sure about how well our new internet service will be since it was just installed yesterday) I believe we are definitely headed in that direction.  I think we will save a ton of money in the long run 🙂

Brooklyn’s Believers

I posted about this precious little girl, Brooklyn, about two months ago and I just wanted to let you know that according to the family’s Facebook Page she is doing really well.   A post just today stated that “post-operative scans showed no evidence of residual or new disease.”  Praise God!!  If you get a chance, please check out her precious little face on their page, I promise you won’t regret it.  I’ve never met her or any of her family, but just by reading their Facebook page and looking at their website you can tell they are just precious people!

So there’s some updates…Tomorrow we are headed to Nashville to see Andy’s 7 month old niece Sara who is still in Vanderbilt recovering (wonderfully!!) from open heart surgery and hopefully we’ll have time to make a stop at Trader Joe’s on the way back home.

Happy Friday!

NYC Bound

NYC here I come!  Am I packed?  No.  But I do have my suitcase out and guess what I found in it?!

Ryman Suitcase Ryman Suitcase1

My all girls trip looks like it might turn into 3 girls with a 2-year-old stowaway 🙂  Jill and the other Beth are headed down to Nashville late tomorrow afternoon (however, I won’t be able to join them until LATE tomorrow evening) for our early morning flight to NYC and I am super excited to see the Big Apple!  Be ready for lots of pictures and if there’s anything that you think I absolutely HAVE to see, please let me know!

Tonight is 30 minutes on the elliptical and depending on my packing time, probably a short ab circuit as well.  And just because it’s been entirely too long since I’ve put a new picture on here, here is my baby niece!

Baby Elizabeth

Isn’t she just precious?!  Off to pack!

Haircuts and Homemade Taco Seasoning

Let’s pick up with lunch this afternoon…I found a fabulous Cran-Walnut bagel and a few handfuls of almonds which made a spectacular lunch and then snacked on a few clementines to hold me over until supper.

Grabbed up Ryman after work and we headed home for a little playtime and a little supper.  He always has to “help” me cook and while it can be stressful sometimes, I wouldn’t have it any other way because I know someday, I am going to miss those messy little fingers in my food and cleaning up after all his craziness.

Tonight was taco salad night, which is one of my personal favorites, and it was wonderful.  My secret ingredient is my Grandmamma’s hot pepper relish which is the most fantastic stuff I have ever put in my mouth and I will try to top basically any dish with it.  I also make my own taco seasoning because I think it tastes way better than store bought, it’s super easy, and I know exactly what ingredients I’m eating.

Taco Salad

Homemade Taco Seasoning

1 tbsp chili powder

2 tsp onion powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp sugar

½ tsp salt

If you’re using a very lean meat, add just a few tbsp of water.

Honestly, I don’t measure anything exactly so it’s really a no fail type of recipe (my favorite!).  I usually make up several servings when I make it and put them in little snack bags so I can just pull them out when I need them.

After supper, Rylnn and I headed back into town to get him a haircut, which was the most extraordinary experience of my day!  He sat in the chair all by himself, and if you don’t have kids you may not understand this, but this was a HUGE deal.  He was spectacular and was rewarded with not one, but two suckers from Miss Shanna and was told that he was her best customer all day.  Then we stopped by Subway on the way home and split a chocolate chip cookie.  I love this kid!

Ryman Haircut

Finally got Ryman home, bathed, and in the bed and I snuck in a hard quick 25 minutes on the elliptical and now I’m off to finish laundry for the big trip Saturday.   Tomorrow I also have a haircut, which I am super excited about.  My hair is longer right now than it’s ever been and I’m just tired of dealing with it, so I’m ready for a new “do.”  Here are two before pics:

After pics to come tomorrow…Have a great night!

SEC Tourney!

Tomorrow afternoon, we’re off to Nashville to watch a session of the SEC Tourney!  So extremely excited!  Let’s go Cats!

Baby Elizabeth,

And here is my precious niece today, I swear I just can’t get enough of that little button.  She had her first professional pictures taken at Photos by Jill and I know they are just going to be incredible, I mean look at her!

Today I had a visit from a local vendor, which resulted in a few new samples to taste-test, which is always interesting and a little exciting.  Tiffany had already left so she couldn’t give me her input, but I tried the coffees and they were AMAZING and maybe I can try the Kickstart  in the morning and see if they will “kickstart” my day.

This afternoon after work, I picked up my Ryman at Granny’s and then we headed out to see Papa.

He was in a great mood and we just had a great time with Daddy and Papa swinging, running around the yard, riding the mule, and walking across the road to the neighbor’s house to see their beagles.

I ate SO terribly for breakfast and lunch, I don’t want to even re-live it, but for supper we had a wonderfully grilled steak, with salad, a few french fries and Samoas for dessert (gotta love me some Girl Scout Cookies!).

I did run back and forth from Papa and Gamma’s house which was a good 1/4 mile run and I think that’s all I’ll do for tonight and tomorrow night I’ll be resting (at the SEC tourney!) so I’ll be ready to go for my race Saturday.

And thanks to all for the suggestions on an elliptical…With your help I believe I’ve found one that will be reasonable and reliable so I’ll put the pen to paper and see if we can swing it.

Remember, tomorrow is FRIDAY!

Looking for an Elliptical

Okay everyone, I need help and opinions!  I’ve been looking to purchase an elliptical machine (for several reasons) but I would like to get a pretty good one, without shelling out too much dough.  Now, I live by the “You get what you pay for” saying but I just don’t have a ton of money laying around to spend on exercise equipment so I’m looking for a great bargain.  If you know someone who would like to sell a used one or if you know where I can get one relatively cheap, please comment below or email me.  Thank you all!
