More Peas, Thank You Winner!

Another B-E-A-utiful afternoon for a run!

Running1 Running2

However, the bad news is my legs felt like molasses running through quicksand.  Combine that with some anti-histamines already in my system drying me out as I try to fight off an impending allergy attack…needless to say, it was not a great run.  I did happen to see a black racer slither right over this bridge and that sped me up considerably as I RAN THE OTHER WAY!

After the run, I picked up my Ryman and we headed over to Papa and Gamma’s (my mom and dad’s) for some play time and supper.  If you have ever read my blog before, you know how I feel about my mother’s cooking.  It’s hands down the greatest and that’s all there is to say about that!

Tonight we had grilled pork chops and asparagus, garlic bread, fried potatoes, and homemade applesauce with chocolate chip pound cake for dessert.  It was fantabulous!

Then we headed right back outside to finish out the beautiful day.

When we got home, I found a package on my doorstep!  A few weeks ago, I won Tina’s Carrots ‘N’ Cake blog More Peas, Thank You cookbook giveaway!  When I opened the package, I was surprised by not only the cookbook, but a tumbler, a fruit-infused water bottle, and an insulated tote!  I get so excited when I get mail anyway, but I was totally surprised to see all the goodies that came with this wonderful vegetarian cookbook.

I love that the cookbook starts by introducing not only the author, Sarah Matheny, but her family as well and then lists all of her pantry, fridge and freezer basics to help you be prepared to start any of her recipes.  She also has a substitution and a metric conversion section (always helpful) and all of her recipes start with a story and most mention or reflect her faith.  I love it!

I flipped through most of the vegetarian recipes and I’m really excited to try some of the dinner dishes, but this one recipe caught my eye immediately…I mean chocolate and peanut butter.  I think so.

Now it’s off to shower and to the bed…

This was my first EVER giveaway win…Have you ever won a giveaway?

Red Carpet Manicure Review

A few weeks ago, I was reading the Carrots ‘N’ Cake blog that I love so very much and that particular day she was detailing 5 recent favorite purchases she had made.  One of those purchases was a Red Carpet Professional LED light (for at home shellac basically).  I do love a good shellac although it can be so expensive that I don’t treat myself to it very often, even though I have the most pitiful fingernails on the face of the planet.  They chip and peel off and are extremely brittle, so when I saw that post, a light came on and I started my search for my at-home-shellac system.

When I came across the Ulta website, I found the same professional LED light and it came with the whole starter kit including the cleanser, remover, prep coat, base coat, nail color, top coat, and cuticle oil.  I found a few online coupons and got it down to a price that I could afford and purchased it.

Well…I tried it out.

I LOVE it.

Now, my favorite color is red, however, I usually don’t wear red on my nails because I think it is SO bright and it shows the first tiny little chips, but I actually like this red color.  In the future, I think I will purchase a more demure, toned down color, but this is what my nails looked like before I even touched up around my nails where the color had gotten on my skin.  It was very quick for shellac, the LED light worked perfectly, and after you used the cleanser, there is no normal tacky feeling at all.

The next test will be to see how long this gel nail color will wear, but right now, this whole set receives 5 stars from me 🙂

Coconut Oil Face Cream-Hmmmmmm

When I woke up this morning, my face seemed to be a little bit softer than usual, but other than that, I see no real difference.  I am going to try the Coconut Oil Face Cream again tonight (see previous post if you’re confused) and Friday night as well and see if maybe it bears repeating to achieve results…So Pass or Fail?  The jury is still out…

Started this morning with some coffee with almond milk, two granola bars and I won a giveaway!  If you don’t read Tina’s Blog Carrots ‘N’ Cake, I highly encourage you to do so.  She has some incredible workouts and recipes, and Murphy, the cutest pug I’ve ever seen.  I entered her giveaway for the new cookbook More Peas, Thank You and I won!  I never win giveaways!  I’m hoping that with a new vegetarian cookbook, I can encourage myself my Ryman to eat more vegetables because I know we both need them.  Thank You, Tina!

And just to make you smile, here is my beautiful baby niece…I get to see her in 2 days!
