Noonday Collection Adoption Fundraiser

This evening I had the privilege to spend some time with a wonderful group of ladies for a more than wonderful cause.  More on that in just a minute…


For supper, I boiled a few eggs and baked some chicken to shred and made a quick chicken salad with a little mayo, brown spicy mustard and pickle relish.  For those of you that have seen this trick on Pinterest, it WORKS!  Pinterest Pass with flying colors!  I enjoyed a handful of mixed nuts while I was mixing together my chicken salad and then sprinkled a few on top as well.

Now back to my wonderful evening!

The beautiful Wendy Wilson hosted a Noonday Collection Style Show Adoption Fundraiser to help support her friend Erin’s adoption.  Erin and her husband are adopting Lincoln (15 months) and Piper (6 months) from Africa and Wendy and her husband adopted the precious Roxie Kyle a few months ago as well (and are in the process of adopting little Hudson) so adoption is extremely close to her heart.

Noonday Collection was founded by Joe and Jessica Honegger in 2010 after a visit to Uganda and their own personal decision to adopt from Rwanda as a means to raise money for the costly adoption process.

From their website:

At Noonday Collection, we believe every child belongs in a family. While the owner is no longer raising money for their Rwandan adoption (though they think more adoptions will come), the vision remains the same. We advocate for the orphan by:

  • Providing jobs that create a pathway out of poverty for families. A stable income means a family is less likely to abandon their child.
  • Help families raise money for their own adoptions. We give 10% of trunk show sales directly to the adoptive family when they host a trunk show.
  • Aside from donating 10% towards qualified adoptive families, Noonday Collection also gives towards orphan care and prevention. Watch the video to see one of our beneficiaries.
  • The dream: Take YOU on a trip to visit artisans and visit orphans in their distress.

Our Noonday Collection Ambassador Kayce explained to us the founding and history of Noonday and how the whole program works and also showed us several of the pieces on display as well as in the catalog which was FULL of great accessories.

When I got back home, this happened.


Before you freak out, it is in fact a worm and not a snake, but still.

After Ryman went to bed, I managed to crank out a 2 1/2 mile run and a quick arm circuit-12 reps of bicep curls, tricep extensions, hammer curls, and tricep kickbacks and I did 3 rounds of that.  I also completely my 100 sit-ups for the day. Woo!

On a side note, my blog will be getting a face lift tomorrow forcing me to  be out of commission until Saturday so PLEASE be sure to check back in on Saturday and hopefully a new and improved, fresh-faced Sugar Coated Sheridan will await you.

A.M. Workout?

Yesterday I had some big aspirations of waking up early this morning for my workout, but guess what.  When my alarm went off, my stomach felt extremely questionable, so I turned my alarm off and went back to sleep.  I must face the facts…I am NOT a morning workout person.  As much as I try to and as much as I want to be, I am always super stiff in the morning and quite frankly I don’t feel like my eyes even open until I have my first sip of coffee.  I think my stomach was just me subconsciously saying no to a morning workout!

If I had more time in the morning where I could have some coffee and wake up and then get going, I think I could do it, but given my current employment and 2 ½ year old, I would have to wake up at 3:30am.  Not. Acceptable.

So this EVENING, I WILL be working out.  I can’t decide if I want to attempt the Tough Mudder training that I posted about yesterday since I am now 99% sure I won’t be able to run in it or if I would like to try Peanut Butter Fingers Workout that she posted earlier today since I have been fighting boredom in my daily workouts.  One of the two will be done!

And Andy’s youngest niece (7 months) had open heart surgery this morning and everything went as well as it could’ve possibly gone and they are already talking like she won’t have to stay in the hospital as long as originally planned, Praise God!

NYC Bound

NYC here I come!  Am I packed?  No.  But I do have my suitcase out and guess what I found in it?!

My all girls trip looks like it might turn into 3 girls with a 2-year-old stowaway 🙂  Jill and the other Beth are headed down to Nashville late tomorrow afternoon (however, I won’t be able to join them until LATE tomorrow evening) for our early morning flight to NYC and I am super excited to see the Big Apple!  Be ready for lots of pictures and if there’s anything that you think I absolutely HAVE to see, please let me know!

Tonight is 30 minutes on the elliptical and depending on my packing time, probably a short ab circuit as well.  And just because it’s been entirely too long since I’ve put a new picture on here, here is my baby niece!

To Stream or Not to Stream?

I spent today catching up on everything that I couldn’t finish Monday from last week and from being gone all day yesterday and even snuck in a lunch with one of my oldest friends which was wonderful 🙂

This afternoon we were blessed with more warm weather and we were able to run around outside with Papa and then ate some of Gamma’s fabulous lasagna before coming back home to swing and then bath and bed.  It was a great afternoon, but I’m tired!  It’s an arm circuit this evening from Brooke’s Beach Body Challenge featuring jack push ups.

And now for a bit of techy talk…So we’re talking about canceling our satellite television and I need advice!  We actively watch maybe 30 minutes of television per day on a normal weekday, a little more than that on weekends of course, but not enough to warrant the monthly price that we pay for our service.

With the research we’ve done so far, it looks like our best bet would be to upgrade our internet service just a tish, cancel our satellite, and subscribe to either Hulu or Netflix and then if we needed a movie and didn’t want to go anywhere, there’s Vudu, since we have a Blu-Ray system that will support all those streaming services.  Who came up with these names?

I would love some feedback…Has anyone else tried this?  Good and bad?  All opinions, comments or suggestions welcome 🙂

Going to Grandmamma’s House

So here’s the deal… is going to be moving to and after hours of research and comparisons, I’m super excited about it!  It’s going to take at least 30 days to get my domain back up and running so for now if you want to read my blog, it’s at this ridiculously long address and as soon as it’s fully functioning at again, I will definitely let you know.  Oh, and here is my beloved little niece today!


Today after work, Rylnn and I had BIG plans…We were headed out to pick March flowers!  Since Gamma is in Florida for the month, Grandmamma invited us (Papa) to eat at her house (just to be sure we’re not starving I think *wink wink) so we decided to take her a few March flowers, because who doesn’t like March flowers?!  We rode out to Papa’s house, climbed in the mule, raced out to the field to pick flowers, got them in a vase and trekked out to Grandmamma’s house.  She loved the flowers and had made us pot roast with gravy, carrots, potatoes, rolls, cornbread, and banana pudding…I assure you, we are DEFINITELY not starving and Rylnn had a LARGE time playing in Grandmamma’s toys.

Last night, I tried out this new circuit routine I found on Pinterest and while I thought it really didn’t look that challenging, let me just tell you…It’s challenging.  I mean, holy ha-lunges!!  My legs were screaming on the third time through!


Tonight I jumped on the treadmill and ran a hard 3 miles and was pretty pleased with my time and how I felt afterwards, as I continue to prepare for the Beat Beethoven 5K this Saturday.  And after a few conversations I had today, I have a disclaimer for you:  Running does NOT come easy for me.  Have you seen this picture?


I LOVE IT!  I am not a fast runner at all…If I can make a 9 minute mile, I feel elated with myself.  I’m not built be a runner, no long legs, no lean build, nothing like that.  I can run for a long time, but it has always been a challenge and something that I have to overcome every single day.  However, I LOVE the way that I feel AFTER I run and that’s what keeps me coming back for more, so if you haven’t found a workout that does that for you yet, keep looking and don’t give up!
